Midsummer's eve is a Big Thing here in Sweden, so I had a lot of help remembering it XD Is it a big celebration where you live too? I'm very un-updated on where Midsummer is celebrated outside of Sweden and when (Norwegian friends told me they celebrate one day earlier than us Swedes, so I assume there's a lot of variations).

I never grew up celebrating Midsummer. I think it would be delightful.

When I lived in Japan, the solstices and equinoxes were celebrated there.

It's very much a Fertility Festival here where all the sex-related traditions - like dancing around a huge dick - sort of fly over a lot of people's heads nowadays (if you've seen the 2019 horror movie Midsommar it's...almost like that, but with less murder XD)

I didn't know that about Japan! What kind of celebrations are they?

I have seen that movie! I would love to take part in a festival like that.

To be honest, I didn't take advantage of joining in the celebrations. I just treated it like another day off work.

It's pretty fun! I'd say part of the movie is Very Accurate and the other half is just hilariously over the top XD But hey, it's a horror movie, so it's supposed to be :)

Ah well, that's always the downside of having to be a responsible adult with a job. Were you teaching or did you have another kind job? (I'm guessing teaching because that's what 100% of my other friends who've lived in Japan have done XD)
