nonesensed: My cat is a happy cat (Default)
Hello good people of the Internet!

This blog is mostly for fandom-related posts, me talking about my life and life in general, and for the occasional to-do list. I only lock very personal posts, so you're not missing out on any fandom things if you don't have access to those. I participate in fandom by writing fanfiction, roleplaying, cosplaying and discussing meta. I love other forms of fandom (fanart, AMVs, etc), I've just never had the inclination to make such things myself.

I have maaaany fandoms, but I'm currently most focused on:
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Candela Obscura
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Critical Role
- Dimension 20/A Court of Fey and Flowers
& Escape from the Bloodkeep
- ElfQuest
- The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
- Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
(TV & Book both)
- Leverage
- The Masquerade Series by Seth Dickinson
- Mononoke
(the anime series, not the Princess Mononoke movie)
- Monstress (the comic series)
- Remedyverse (aka Control, Alan Wake I & II, Quantum Break, Max Payne)
- The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells (& also enjoyed the TV adaptation)
- Sherlock Holmes
- Star Trek
(faves are TOS & DS9)
- The Untamed.

Elsewhere on the Internet you'll find me on AO3 as [archiveofourown.org profile] Nonesensed, on Tumblr as [tumblr.com profile] nonesensed and on Bluesky. I'm still on Twitter (I refused to call it X) as [twitter.com profile] Booksabaking, but I'm working on moving everything I've posted there to Bluesky. I'm tentatively on Pillowfort. I also post my original fiction over on [personal profile] booksabaking

I love getting to know people and geeking out, be it about fandom things, writing, cats, or what have you! Feel free to leave a comment on any post, no matter how old, and whether you subscribe to me or not. Leave a comment on this post if you want to say hi (with our without subscribing) 😊

Other quick info about me: she/her, queer, 30+ years old, loves cats, adores writing, will use all the emojis πŸ’–, language nerd, used to be a swim coach, have dabbled in pole dancing, got a long list of favorite tropes & kinks, can speak Swedish & English plus understand German (and technically Norwegian and Danish).

PS. Transformative Works Policy: I'll be utterly delighted for any and all transformative works of my fics or plot ideas (art, fic, gifs, manips, podfic, translations, etc). Please send me links to your work so I can cheer for you! The only thing I'm not okay with is my writing being scraped by or added to any sort of AI text generator or "AI writing aid". Please respect that. Also, don't copy my works to any other sites.

I finally have to admit that, as much as I want to, I can't fully catch up with what everyone on here has written since I last was caught up (aka October 2025...). Not if I want to have a chance to read what people currently are posting.

Thus, if I leave a comment on one of your recent posts that feels out-of-touch with a huge life event you've gone through, I apologize ahead of time for my ignorance. I'm doing my best to skim-read what everyone's been up to, buuuut it's very possible I'll miss things. πŸ™ƒ

My health has been in the trash all of March and April due to allergies, asthma and back-problems (old slipped discs that never fully healed right). I've at last reached a balance of new meds that seem to be doing the trick, but I've now got a huge backlog of...well, life πŸ˜…

What I've neglected the most is my writing. I have this huge urge to write, but I have so many projects that I haven't touched in far too long, so I don't know where to start. And I definitely won't finish line-editing A Werewolf in October this year, which sucks.

On a more positive note, here are fun things that have happened or are happening:
  • D&D tonight! The two D&D campaigns I'm running are still going strong (if with long breaks at times) and tonight the Dragonkeepers will (hopefully) be setting sail for the continent of Wildemount πŸ₯³
  • I've caught up with both Critical Role and Witch Hat Atelier (the manga version - I'll be watching the anime episodes available next weekend when my sister visits) and all I can say is "AAAAAAAH!!!!" (affectionate) πŸ˜†
  • Tori Amos released a new album and it's making me feel very nostalgic πŸ’œ
  • I'm back to running! Only 2km a run as of yet, but going from 0 to that with my asthma feels pretty great still.
  • Tomorrow a friend is taking me out to dinner and a movie πŸ’– We're going to see Project Hail Mary, which I'm really looking forward to!

Hope the start of May has been treating everyone well πŸ’™

Just battling a number if (minor but annoying) health problems. I feel like an old car right now - every time I fix one thing, another part of me breaks.

I've been doing my absolute best to not push myself, and thus am still behind on a million of online things, as I'm trying to prioritize writing and editing while I have computer time. I long for more time and energy to catch up on conversations and posts on here!

Current fandom shenanigans I'm entertaining myself with in-between allergies, backaches and work:
- Critical Role campaign 4 is enchanting and I adore both the plot and all the characters still. And we're finally getting the Schemers table, wohoo!
- While catching up with work I'm watching different Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 let's plays that are blind playthroughs, to enjoy seeing other people work their way through all the plot twists and lore reveals.
- The combined Clair Obscur revisits + my annoyance at being ill have birthed a Clea/Lune post-game enemies-to-lovers fic. We'll see if it ever sees the full light of day, but toying with the plot is fun enough.
- Hyped for the upcoming Witch Atelier anime adaptation!

Time sure keeps moving forward whether I keep track of it or not πŸ˜† I'm still playing catch-up on everything, but by doing one thing at the time, I'm actually making progress - huzzah!

One thing I'm getting to today is going through what books I read last year.

In 2025 I read 90 books, which I'm fairly pleased with. Sadly had to give up on the Book Bingo I was doing because I didn't have the brainpower to think through my book choices - but there's always next/this year 😊

If you're curious about what those 90 books were, here's a link to a summary on Storygraph.

Some thoughts and comments )

Those were my book thoughts from last year! And I've already got started on my reading for this year 😁

Any books/comics/manga people are really looking forward to read?

Once more, I'm doing the lists, and the goals, and trying to catch up everywhere (like here πŸ˜…), but I finally think I have stumbled upon the right balance of Goals VS Stress for myself.

As the title says, I don't want to jinx it by celebrating too early, but I feel like myself again πŸ’– Helps that I've sworn to not work more than 8 hours a day, 5 days a week this year. Funny how much of a change that's already brought on, four weeks into the new year πŸ˜‰

I'm back to writing! The "you have to do everything so you do nothing"-stress of 2025 is gone at last, which means I can sit down and work more efficiently on line-edits of my closest-to-finished-WIP A Werewolf in October. I'm hoping to print it (just, like, 10 copies, not publish) at the end of this year, but if it's not ready then, it's not ready. It'll never be as polished and error free as a professional work with actual beta-readers and editors etc but I'm not aiming for professional - I'm aiming for a fun thing to have made that I can share with a handful of my friends 😊

Doing my best to return to timed goals instead of accomplishment goals. That is, "work on this story for 30 minutes tonight" instead of "you have to listen to 14 podcast episodes this week". My deadline heavy work life reaaaally infected my way of thinking of my hobbies - but no more, I say!

Since I'm going Slow And Steady Wins The Race, I'm also trying not to fret over being so behind on comments and blog entries here on DW (I'll tell you if I succeed). It's why I've skipped the Snowflake challenge this year - at least for now.

So. In a hopeful mood, despite *gestures at the state of the world*

It's time for my yearly tradition of Making A To-Do List 😁 My previous lists (from 2025, from 2024 and from 2023) have had varying levels of success.

Last year, I meant to focus on writing and self-care, which didn't go too well πŸ˜… So, new plan! This year I'm not aiming for a list of things I want to finish this year - we're going for a list of reminders of everything I want to do at some point. I will not have time to do all this. Only a few things will have deadlines, the rest are merely aspirational, and I'll be updating the list throughout the year.

I'm finally truly slowing down here at the end of the year. We've got seven days left of 2025 and I hope everyone is having a good end of the year. I certainly am! Vacation is here at last and I can recover from all the things I've put myself through since January πŸ˜…

Yeah, this did not end up being the self-care year I had planned. At all. In fact, I've not worked this much overtime since I had my old, shitty job that gave me actual burnout. Wheee. Everything that could go wrong at work definitely did, this year (in ways that no one could help).

Will absolutely aim to take things slow for a long while and to NOT do this to myself again. My loudest wake-up call was now in December when two massages therapists, independent of each other, made the O_O-face when assessing me. Going to take a while to recover but it is doable. I just need plenty of rest.

BUT! I still managed to write 50k words on one of my book projects during November and I finished my Yuletide fic in time, so all is not terrible by any means of the word. And I have plenty of personal plans for next year, to prevent myself from taking on too much work or "work" (+ I've had everyone who would be "picking up my slack" agree to not overwork themselves either, which is the biggest win of this year for me!)🩡🩡🩡

Speaking of Yuletide, I got this wonderful Bioshock Infinite fic πŸ’–Highly recommended!

Been yet another rough work week, but I finally have the energy to get hyped up about my November writing project! I'm aiming to work on (and maybe even finish!) the first draft of The Crawling Dark of Your Lover and hopefully finish it this time around. Might even commission more art for the project once I see how it's going - either to reward or comfort myself πŸ˜†

In fandom news, campaign 4 of Critical Role keeps being a blast! I don't have the energy to get into all the things I loved about episode 4 right now, but let's just say that Bolaire, Occtis & Julien remain my favorites thus far and that I long to see where this is going (both re: character development and the plot). Especially how Bolaire's and Hal's friendships evolves/changes after The Revelation πŸ–€πŸ’–

Huzzah for you, wonderful Yulegoats!

I'll start by saying that this long letter very much is optional. I only intend to inspire - long Yuletide letters help me out in my writing, so I want to provide that for others, should it be helpful. If you want even more info, I have a very long list of favorite tropes and kinks over here. Most of it's about general tropes I enjoy. Near the end you'll also find things related to NSFW topics. If you want to take a look at what I usually write and read when it comes to fanfic, I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] Nonesensed over on AO3, and I get up to quite a few fandom things on Tumblr, [tumblr.com profile] nonesensed.

Only two episodes in and I'm already head over heels for this season πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’– We have it all: political drama, a mysterious betrayal, characters with shared pasts, players who are having a blast and already shipping each other's characters left and right, thrilling cliffhangers and sooooo many dark secrets~!

Link to the show's playlist on Youtube.

In other news, I'm still working far too much. I'm techincally not working (much) overtime this month, buuuut I now have students to mentor, and we don't get any extra compensation for the hours we put on mentoring students - other than the obvious benefit of having future coworkers.

So yeah. But come November things will have calmed down!!! I swear it!

Injured my shoulder, so my writing is going slowly right now. Have a good massage therapist though, so I'll be right as rain in no time. Just extra slow re: my sysiphean catch-up on posts and comments on here - thank you for your patience πŸ’—

Btw, I've been listening to Florence + The Machine's new single on repeat since it came out about a month ago and I still enjoy it greatly:
