I've been very happily busy these last two weekends because I've had family visiting! My parents came for a long weekend visit at the end of April and stayed until the first of May, and then my sister came last Wednesday and stayed until yesterday. We had so much nerdy fun~!
During nerd time with my sister, between completing puzzles and visiting museums, we worked on our various projects. We've got some shared projects and a ton of individual ones - she does art, animation and cosplay, I write fic, my own stuff and plot TTRPG campaigns - and just hanging out and working on those is so much fun 💖 And helpful! It was during one of our "silent jam sessions" that I figured out how to deal with a writing thing that's been stressing me out:
Line-editing A Werewolf in October.
I'm not looking to publish, but I do want to print a few copies of the book for family and friends. Therefore, I've started a line-edit. It is a huge undertaking since I'm not a professional writer and since I didn't actually intend to print this project back when I first started posting it online. I'm enjoying the results of the line-edits, it's definitely improved the chapters I've already gone through, but I've had a hard time getting a sense of how fast or slow I'm going. 'Cause I'd like to print this book by the end of 2025, so there's a self-imposed deadline.
My issues was: I was counting the paragraphs I'd finished editing. However, when editing word-by-word, you tend to skip around in the chapter a lot = very few whole paragraphs get finished per day. So I've now instead used Word Frequency Counter + WordCounter to figure out roughly how many unique words I have in each chapter, so I can count how many of those I've gone through instead! Suddenly I'm right on schedule for my deadline instead of terrifyingly behind! Magic~! 😆
On a less cheerful note, my pollen allergies have been really bad this year, despite all the meds, and I've got myself a double-sided ear infection, so that's hampering me. But this too shall pass and all that.

I moved house a few years back and it meant moving 4 hours from my closest family - I do miss talking to them face-to-face on occasion - it's not the same using a phone or PC! Glad you have had a good time with some lovely guests :)

Yeah, I moved away from my hometown seventeen years ago and it still feels strange to be a 5,5 hour train ride from my immediate family. Face-to-face time is indeed very different than video or phone - though I'm so grateful those options exist!

UGH sorry about your allergies! They have been brutal for a lot of people this ear. Hoping that and your ear infection clear up soon. <3

Yeah, the allergy seasons are just getting nastier and longer with the climate changing 😖 But I've got good meds both for that and my ears, so I should be right as rain in no time! Thank you for cheering me on 🩵
