The first challenge was to update your intro post and the second was to update your fandom goals. Now, number 3:
Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive.
Okay, I'm very new to this particular challenge, but here I go:
1) Fandom discussions! I love to partake in them π Be it general cheering about why a canon is fun, talking about ships, brainstorming fic or discussing meta, if you want to chat about a fandom we share, please do π
2) I'm happy for all fanworks my fandoms get! More of all kinds will make my day π The fandoms I'm currently most focused on are:
Candela Obscura, Critical Role, Dimension 20/A Court of Fey and Flowers, ElfQuest, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Leverage, Remedyverse, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek (mainly DS9 and TOS) & The Untamed.
3) The fandom I am ABSOLUTELY FERAL ABOUT RIGHT NOW IS REMEDYVERSE!!! Aka the video games made by Remedy Entertainment that sort of share a common multiverse (Alan Wake I & II, Control, Max Payne, Quantum Break). If you know anything about these games, I'd be thrilled to talk to you about them! My absolute favorite character right now is Alex Casey from Alan Wake II, but I'm happy to talk about any aspect of the games and pretty much any character and/or ship you can think of π
4) Always happy to get comments on my fics and to talk about my fic WIPs. πππ
5) Fanwork recs are always welcome, especially for AMVs/MEPs/animatics/shiny-pictures-set-to-music. When it comes to AMVs and animations, I am not picky about fandom, so please link me all the neat ones you know of!
6) Directed at myself: I wish for the ability to focus on writing the fic that brings me the most joy to write instead of writing things I feel I "should" work on. Please me, just go with what's most fun at the moment! Writing will be so much more recuperating and enjoyable that way. Write those self-indulgent, smutty, silly, over-the-top stories!

Your wish about comments especially resonated. Getting unexpected comments, especially on old fics is such a boost and gives me real impetus to keep going with my current writing, so I really hear you on that one.
Also really love the idea of focusing on writing the fic that brings you joy. Writing should make you happy and in doing so you're likely to make other people happy. Go write that smutty, silly over the top story - it's anything but self-indulgent. :)

I did a little snooping around other people's wishes before I posted, and the wish for comments is something I blatantly stole from several other people π It's clearly a wish that resonates with many fandom (and non-fandom) writers! While I do enjoy writing simply for the writing itself, I delight in getting feedback π A story gets twice as much fun to have written if other people also enjoy it and let you know they did! Definitely fuel for future writing too π
ππππ Thank you for the cheering on, I needed it! I love writing gift fics for other people, but writing something for someone else is slightly more "pressure", as much fun as it is - and I just realized that of the 57 fics I've got up on AO3, 31 are gift fics π So, while I still enjoy writing gifts, I should gift myself some fics this year too π

I love the whole party, but Hob almost immediately became my favorite of the bunch. Characters who are too loyal for their own good are my catnip, so with his storyline, who could I not love him??? And his courtship with Rue is just *chef's kiss*
The Lords of the Wing were hilarious while also having a hidden core of Actual Serious Stakes And Motivations, and I love them for that! Their sub-plots were such a great contrast and complement to the more "all the way through serious" sub-plots of the rest of the party. Btw, have you seen this brilliant animatic focused on the Lords of the Wing?
Did you watch the Adventure Party episodes too or just the game episodes? My favorite behind the scenes knowledge is that Andhera was supposed to be a "fanon!Mr Darcy" type of character, but then his player realized "I'm too asexual for this" and retconned that while playing π

YES to the Lords of the Wing being a great contrast to some of the more serious business plots! But like you said, they also had relevant and important secrets, too! They had great chaos energy together, just so fun to watch. :D
That is so charming about Andhera's character development, awww. <3 Clearly I should watch the Adventuring Party episodes!
The whole cast was FANTASTIC, I kept forgetting this was (mostly) improvised, as they kept delivering these character-driven, thematically relevant eloquent speeches - just incredible.
Thank you for the animatic rec!! :D I really loved this Rue/Hob first time fic from this year's Yuletide, if that's of interest. :D

The Lords of the Wing went "Well, we'll have some serious plots but we sure as hell won't be serious in how we act them out!!!" π
Whenever I watch a D20 campaign, I've gotten into the habit of watching the corresponding Adventure Party episode directly after, because you get so much delicious meta and lore - highly recommended!
The D20 casts always bring some serious improve master game to the table and I'm always impressed π€© What was your favorite plot twist btw? To me it's a tie between Rue's owlbear reveal, Hob getting an arranged marriage thrown his way and the Lords of the Wing revealing their secret engagements/marriages to each other (I adore the animated version of that Dropout put up on Youtube π)
Ooooh, I hadn't seen that Rue/Hob fic yet - many thanks for the rec!!!

What was your favorite plot twist btw?
Rue's reveal was definitely one of my favourite reveals! I loved that it was a surprising twist, but also gave so much depth to Rue's characterization and had such an impact on the story for the rest of the game. <333 Your other choices are also so good! I did not see Lady Cluckfeather's secret marriage coming at all, so that was an especially fun twist. and the arranged marriage one was a heartstopper, omg.
In addition to your ideas, I'd say the reveal of Gwendolyn's identity was a good surprise. It wasn't unexpected that there would be a reveal, since it was clear SOMETHING was going on there - I had no idea what her character was about (all those mysterious phone calls!! her room!!) and what her motivations were. So that was cool to find out!
Do you have other favourite D20 seasons, btw? (Nothing seems to be quite like ACOFA&F sadly!) I've seen Fantasy High (seasons 1 & 2, but not the spin-offs yet), Starstruck Odyssey, and Escape from Blood Keep, and enjoyed them all! But would be happy to hear about other recs or faves of yours. :D
no subject
Oh yeah, Rue's reveal is *chef's kiss* - such a great plot twist!!! And yes, this whole campaign was one big "What?!" after the other, in the best of ways π
Really love who Gwyndolin/BINX turned out to be in the end, as a person. Her and Andhera's relationship was so sweet too - him swearing himself to her court, her wanting him and everyone to just be friends and be happy, just πππ I really love the contrast between the pairs we got: Rue & Hob being very aware of courtly intrigues and doing their best to keep it together under a mountain of restraints, the bird cousins equally aware but set on rebelling in a have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too way, and then BINX & Andhera just going "why can't we all just be friends without courts, wouldn't that be easier???" π
I'm actually also fairly new to Dimension 20 and waaaay behind on it, but I've loved the ones I've seen (EFtB and ACoFaF + Mentopolis and the start of Burrow's End - still working on finishing that one). I'd rec Mentopolis if you want to see "Inside Out" meets pun-filled noir, and Burrow's End if you want to watch Brennan Lee Mulligan play the stoat version of Mrs Brisby from The Secret of NIHM starring in a mixture of Watership Down and Annihilation π
My plan is to make my way through all the D20s eventually, but, y'know, TIME π
no subject
Thank you for the Mentopolis and Burrow's End recs! Those sound great. I genuinely love how different in tone and scope and vibes each of the seasons are (and am quite in awe of how they do it!) β but it makes it hard when you want MORE of something as uniquely brilliant like ACoFaF, haha. I just have to sorta crank my brain into another mode to try something new. ;D
Anyway, I look forward to hearing how it goes if you watch any other seasons! I'll be watching more too, but TIME is certainly a factor when the episodes are so long. XD
no subject
Hope you enjoy! The addition of Youtube's own Hank Green to Mentopolis was an unexpected joy π I agree on how the different vibes of the campaigns are both Super Great but also But I Want More Of X!!! π I especially feel you on the "need to readjust brain for new thing before I can get into it". I have soooo many cool things I want to check out, but I'm just not in the right mood for them yet π
Will definitely be making posts whenever I manage to finish a new campaign of D20! I love to rant and cheer about new cool things I've seen/read/etc π And I would love to hear what you think of the campaigns you've watched/will watch too, whenever TIME allows πππ

I got into Sapphire and Steel fairly late since it didn't air on any Swedish TV channel we had way back then, but I adore it still - so wonderfully creepy π€π€π€ The assignment with the photographs is *chef's kiss* Do you have a favorite Element from the show? I ended up liking Steel most of all, but they're all great in so many different ways~

Star Trek
"Another Life" by LullabyKnell
Here is a fixit for the destruction of Vulcan. This is the first instance I've seen that highlighted the difference between heroes and villains in time travel as such. Think about how many stories, especially fixit fanfics, you have read where someone suddenly gets thrust back in time before a disaster and immediately decides to do everything they can to avert that disaster. Nero, instead of deciding to prevent the destruction of Romulus by, say, becoming an activist or an astrophysicist -- which would have been possible at that time -- decided to seek revenge. So the first heroic act in all those other stories, before the hero takes any action at all, is simply deciding to preserve instead of destroy.

I find that my upbeat material is MUCH more popular than the darker stuff. That includes the runaway favorites in both fanfic (Love Is For Children) and original (Polychrome Heroics) contexts. By writing plain, pure fansquee you probably increase your chance of comments and followers.

Thank you for sharing that observation and those stories! I really, really like making other people happy with surprise gifts, and I enjoy tailoring fics to what the person making the prompt would like to read - it's a fun challenge! But I've come to realize that if I make all my fics gift fics I'll burn myself out. Took me a while to realize what drove me to that wasn't really "write something that'll get a lot of comments" but instead "wouldn't X person be so happy if you wrote Y?" Glad to have finally untangled that so I can focus on writing myself gifts for a bit π Seeing as my current main fandom is a survival horror game fandom, I suspect I'll be writing pleeeenty of darker things, though self-indulgent darkness ππ€

There are plenty of opportunities for that.

That's a useful realization.

Maybe look through a list of horror tropes or prompts and think about which you love the most. The Bingo Card Generator has several dark prompt lists.
